Acne is the most common skin condition in the U.S. and affects over 40 million people of all ages. Unfortunately, acne also tends to be the most misdiagnosed, and mistreated skin condition.
Acne is an inherited condition of the pores. It's know as an "Inflammatory conditions inside an Acne prone Pore". Acne prone pores contains abnormally sticky cells or corneocytes and is plagued with retention hyperkeratosis which is an abundance of skin cells that shed rapidly. Healthy pores shed about one layer of dead skin cells per day inside the pore. But acne prone pore shed about five layers of dead skin cells per day.
Because the acne prone pore experiences both stick cells and accelerated shedding, the pore becomes clogged due to these two factors, The body has difficulty time keeping the pore clear. Once blockage occur within the pore the anaerobic thrives without oxygen P Bacteria will proliferate.
Basically, an effective treatment must control the breakdown of the follicle bacteria and retention hyperkeratosis within the follicle.

Inflamed acne, often referred to as inflammatory acne, is a type of acne characterized by redness, swelling, and tenderness around the acne lesions. It typically occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria (usually Propionibacterium acnes).
When the follicle becomes inflamed, it can lead to the formation of various types of acne lesions, including:
1. Papules: Small, red, raised bumps that are often painful.
2. Pustules: Red bumps with a white or yellow center filled with pus.
3. Nodules: Larger, painful lumps that form deeper within the skin.
4. Cysts: Deep, pus-filled lumps that can be quite painful and may leave scars.
Proper Skincare and hygiene practices, along with avoiding the temptation to pick or squeeze acne lesions, are essential for managing inflamed acne and preventing further complications or scarring.

Maturation arrest in the context of acne refers to a situation where the development of acne lesions is halted at a certain stage of their formation.
Inflamed acne lesions, such as papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts, can be a result of this maturation arrest. Here’s how it works:
1. Hair Follicle Blockage: Acne typically begins when hair follicles become blocked with excess sebum (oil) and dead skin cells. This creates an environment where the acne-causing bacterium Propionibacterium acnes can thrive.
2. Inflammation Starts: In some cases, the immune system’s response to the presence of bacteria triggers an inflammatory reaction. This inflammation can lead to the characteristic redness, swelling, and pain associated with inflamed acne.
3. Maturation Arrest: In certain instances, the acne lesion may not progress through its natural lifecycle to the point where it can heal and resolve naturally. Instead, it becomes “arrested” at a certain stage of development, such as a papule, pustule, nodule, or cyst. These lesions can persist and be more challenging to treat than non-inflamed acne.
4. Treatment: Treating inflamed acne with maturation arrest often involves interventions to reduce inflammation, control bacterial growth, and encourage the lesion to heal properly.
